Recently received an iphone 4S with this NAND error on boot up. What causes this error is a faulty proximity sensor.
iPhone 4/4S - replace power button flex which includes proximity sensor.
iPhone 5/5C/5S - replace earpiece speaker flex which includes proximity sensor.
